Bianca Del Rio has done it all. But she’s nowhere near finished yet.
Since winning season six of Drag Race, she’s thrown herself into comedy and performance. We’ve seen her dazzle crowds in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, star in her own movie (2016’s Hurricane Bianca) and now she’s preparing to tour her new stand-up show around the world.
Bianca’s razor-sharp wit and stage presence are what helped her become successful long before Drag Race, but these traits are still the driving force behind her career 8 years later.
In 2019, New York Magazine ranked her as America’s most powerful drag queen – and it’s easy to see why.
Joshua Bassett says coming out was ‘liberating’ despite ‘nasty’ homophobia.
In May, Joshua Bassett, 20, gushed about Harry Styles in an adorable interview which he joked was his “coming out video“.
Soon after, the actor clarified that he is a member of the queer community – a decision he came to see as “one of the easiest and most liberating” things he’s ever done.
Speaking to Attitude, Bassett said: “I was, like, this is an important opportunity to say something that I’ve wanted to say for a while, but never felt like I had to, and never felt like I could.
More than a quarter of UK adults would feel ashamed to have an LGBT+ child, shocking study says.
Adults across the UK were asked how they would respond to their child coming out as well as several other scenarios, from pronouns to education.
But the results stir a worrying picture of the nation, where 26 per cent of the 2,109 surveyed would not feel proud to have an LGBT+ child, an online poll by YouGov, on behalf of the queer youth homelessness charity akt, found.
The akt study also revealed that more than one in ten of adults would not want their child to bring home a same-sex partner, whereas one in five would worry about how family members would respond to them having an LGBT+ child.
Charity leaders stressed that these numbers “barely capture the heartbreaking realities” of the young people they support every day, while parent allies dubbed the results “saddening”.
